May 13, 2008: A new Food SmartList for the USA has been released. We updated info on around 2,045 items and added 280 new products to our list. The new SmartList contains verified gluten info for approximately 18,500 products.

You'll notice a difference in the way we're counting products in our new food SmartList release. In the past we counted each listing in the SmartList as one product, but some listings cover multiple products. For example, if you searched the SmartList for "Coca Cola", you would find a listing for "Coca Cola (classic - caffeine free classic - Coca Cola Zero)". Although this is listed as one item, it represents three products.

We decided to make it more clear by giving the total number of products we research for the SmartList along with the number of individual listings. We think it's important to understand that the food SmartList doesn't just give infomation for the 7,346 listings it contains, because these contain verified gluten info on approximately 18,500 products!
